United Airline Flight 839 - 747-400

As many of you know, Jacob loves airplanes and today he achieved one of his bucket list items...sitting in the upper deck of a 747 Jumbo Jet. When he was little, he said "I hope to fly in one before they retire the airplane" in reference also to the Concorde that was retired in November 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde).

Sitting at the airport in LAX, you can see almost any type of aircraft. The Airbus A380 being the largest and the 747 being the next in line. I can tell you, the planes I fly on a weekly basis are small in comparison to the cross-oceanic big dogs.

Airbus A380 - Thai Airlines (it was parked just down the terminal from us. It can hold up to 500 + in 3 classes of service. Also, it weighs 1.2 million pounds at take off per Jacob.

We are sitting in the upper deck seats - 15A, 15B, 16A, 16B and 15J.

We got delayed in LAX for 3:30 hrs, due to a plugged toilette in the upper deck of the plane...can't blame dad yet...lol

Kids did great with the delay, since we didn't board until 12:45 am on Thursday morning (which Kristen reminded us it was 3:45 back home) departure was 1:30 am (LA time).

Upper Deck of the 747-400 - Jacob and Abey getting settled in for the 13 hrs flight.

Pilots invited Jacob to sit in the co-pilot seat on the 747 prior to takeoff, Jacob was lost for words (if you can believe that).

Kristen finally got some sleep and was in a great mood over the Pacific
