Today we are off to Beijing to get ready for our big walk on the Great Wall of China. We are planning a half day tour tomorrow, June 15th. In addition, we will get to see the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and a tour of downtown.
The day started off with breakfast buffet at the Sheraton and of course Starbucks. I think Jacob ate them out of hash browns and croissants. We packed our small bags for the trip to Beijing and left our big suitcases with the hotel concierge. We hopped onto the subway toward downtown. We left to the airport from Central Station to catch the express to the airport. The buses and trains are really easy to follow and quite convenient in Honk Kong.
We are flying China Southern Airlines (Skyteam or Delta partner) to Beijing. Our flight leaves at 1:20 pm and arrives just after 5 pm today. Flight # is 309 (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CSN309)
The flight went by really quick, again a full meal and drinks were provided on China Southern, kinda wish the US carriers provided service like the good old days.
We had the hotel car service pick us up at the airport and to my surprise, we had a personal escort from the gate to our car. No problems going through immigration. Everything was quick except we arrived at rush hour in Beijing. Just like cities in North America, rush hour is slow and traffic crawls along. Can't even describe the drivers in China, they put Ed's driving to shame.
Once we arrived at the Park Hyatt, we proceeded to check in on the 63rd floor...kids were very excited. The hotel staff were very friendly and we arranged our day for tomorrow with the concierge. We have been in the rooms for about 2 hrs and the kids haven't left the bathroom yet...If anybody follows Ron White, you will all know what I am talking about....toilette, oscillating and drying...amazing! I think Kristen is in love. Also the rooms have a rain shower and an "awesome" bathtub according for the girls.

So we ordered room service since we are all a little tired and the plan tonight is to watch a movie. I think the mini-bar will be convenient for a few wobbly pops...wish Uncle Danny could join me for a few...alla NYC.
