Great Barrier Reef Day - aboard Quicksilver

The family awoke to a beautiful day, perfect for today's adventure. Snorkeling the "Great Barrier Reef".  We had a breakfast buffet at the Sheraton Resort, once everyone was filled up we boarded the coach bus for the docks. Upon arriving at the docks, we checked in with Quicksilver and boarded QuickSilver IV Catamaran for Agincourt Reef. (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl)

Our Schedule for the day:

10:00 AM - Leave for Agincourt Reef
11:30 AM - Arrive at Outer Barrier Reef Platform
11:45 - 2:30 - Snorkeling the reef
3:00 PM - Leave for Port Douglas
4:30 PM - Arrive back in Port Douglas

      Outer Barrier Reef Platform

The Agincourt reef is at the very outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. The special reef known as "Ribbon" runs parallel to the Continental Shelf.

Here are some pictures of the family snorkeling the reef.

Jacob, all thumbs up!

Abey, with a foggy mask!

Kristen, with crazy hair!

We have some of our own pictures of the reef, but we need to get them developed. It was a great day!

Once we returned to our Villa, everyone was really tired so I went down to the supermarket to grab something for dinner. Kristen and Abey wanted pork and beans with hot dogs...However the clerk in the store looked at my like I was crazy when I asked "where are the hot dogs?". We had, Mac & Cheese Aussie style, pork and bean, Turkey or Ham and cheese sandwiches. A quite night for everyone.

Tomorrow we head back to Sydney...
